Dermal Filler
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable gels made of hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in the body that hydrates and volumises the skin. I use Teosyal® by Teoxane, a premium, science-led filler range known for its safety, quality, and natural-looking results.
How do they work?
Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds water within the skin, providing hydration, volume, and support to facial structures. This can restore lost volume, enhance facial contours and soften lines for a fresher appearance.
What can they treat?
- Cheeks, jawline, temples, chin, and nose
- Lip enhancement and definition
- Fine lines and deeper folds (e.g. smile lines, marionette lines)
- Skin hydration and texture improvement
Is it safe?
Yes, when performed by a qualified medical professional, dermal filler treatments are generally safe. However, like any medical procedure, there are risks. One rare but serious complication is vascular occlusion, which occurs when filler blocks a blood vessel and restricts blood flow. If left untreated, this can lead to tissue damage. Although rare, it's important to be aware of the signs of vascular occlusion:
- Severe or increasing pain
- Pale, white, dusky, or mottled skin near the injection area
- Coolness or numbness of the skin
- Blisters or skin breakdown
- Delayed or worsening bruising
If you experience any of these symptoms after treatment, contact me immediately. Early intervention significantly reduces the risk of complications.
Does it hurt?
Most people find the procedure comfortable. Teosyal® fillers contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic and we can also apply a numbing cream beforehand.
How long do results last?
Results vary, but typically last 6 to 18 months, depending on the area treated, your metabolism, and the specific product used.
